PEORIA, Ill. – A 16-year-old boy faces almost that many charges after allegedly leading Peoria Police on a chase early Saturday morning in what is believed to be a stolen vehicle.
Police say it started before 12:30 a.m. on Sam J. Stone Avenue. Before the car got to a dead end, the vehicle then hit a police squad car, with the juvenile later allegedly getting out while it was still moving.
The teen was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Battery to Police, Aggravated Assault on Police, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Reckless Conduct, Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, Obstructing Police, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, Failure to Render Aid, Improper Lane Usage, No Driver’s License, No Insurance, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
Meanwhile, about three hours later, Police say the owner of a vehicle he suspected was in the process of being stolen on North Columbus when he approached two juveniles.
One fled while the other was still there when police arrived.
The teen who stayed was charged with Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools, while the other suspect is still wanted.
