PEORIA, Ill. – The chase of a suspect early Saturday morning in Peoria involved a car crashing into a house.
Peoria Police responded to the area of Gift and Wisconsin just after 12:30 A.M. on four Shot Spotter alerts with 25 rounds fired total.
Officers arrived on scene and observed a vehicle speeding away from the location. They attempted to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
The vehicle crashed into a house in the area of Sherwood and Richwoods a short time later. No one inside the house was injured.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Evan Michael Julian Carruthers of Savoy, then fled the area on foot. He was captured after a brief case.
Officers searched Carruthers’ vehicle and found a loaded handgun inside of it.
Carruthers was arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Police. He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
