PEORIA, Ill. – An international exhibit on the human body is officially in Peoria.
It’s called “Body Worlds RX” and it officially opens Saturday at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
Designer, Doctor Angelina Whalley, from Germany, says the exhibit uses technology to tell stories of the human body — including your own — that will definitely make you think.
“This is a very exciting moment, because being emotionally attached, having all this knowledge…and the image of your inner self inside you, that would make you think about your life, about your health, and what you can do to stay healthy,” said Whalley, during a news conference Friday.
In addition to “Body Worlds RX” — in consort, an interactive exhibit on the human heart simply called “Heart,” is opening, too. And for at least one museum official, it’s personal.
The two exhibits came together after Bill Conger, Chief Curator, suffered a massive heart attack in October of 2020.
“I was visiting my son in Springfield, Missouri. On his 21st birthday, I died,” said Conger. “It irreparably kind of altered the course of the rest of my life.”
“Heart” will feature actual human hearts, including the first-ever 4D model of one.
The two exhibits will be at the Peoria Riverfront Museum the rest of the year. The museum says admission to both exhibits will be free to high school and college students.
