PEORIA, Ill. – A former downtown Peoria restaurant located underground is not only making a comeback, it’s going to, in a way, also makes its way above ground.
Richard’s Under Main — known for serving steaks until 4:00 a.m. — has been closed for five years.
Scott Wood, one of the business partners, tells 25 News it’s expected to re-open in mid-May or so, if its liquor license gets approved.
But, Wood says there will also be an above-ground eatery, “Richard’s Cafe,” also slated to open.
“That’ll be for the people who want 10 minute and under, get out for lunch with different stuff, and this (Richard’s Under Main) will be the sit down,” said Wood, to 25 News.
The other business partner, Raul Salazar, says it’s “ridiculous” how many people he’s run in to who are excited for it.
