BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Authorities say a man has been arrested in McLean County for a years-old murder in Ohio — and the man had a Peoria tie.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Martino Giles, 35, is jailed in connection with the 2015 murder in Cleveland. He was arrested on Friday for the suspected shooting death of his then-roommate, DeAndre Jackson, following a dispute about rent money and a watch.
25 News says Giles had been spotted throughout Central Illinois since the Ohio murder — and spent the last year living in Peoria, using fake names. He had been released from custody before, including in Champaign County, but that would happen before fingerprint samples could be returned.
Giles is expected to be extradited back to Ohio.
