PEORIA, Ill. – While many people may have been celebrating Thanksgiving early Wednesday night, Peoria Police were on duty for another of Chief Eric Echevarria’s special Anti-Violence Initiative Directed Patrols.
Police say five people were arrested, thirteen traffic stops were conducted, and three handguns were recovered.
During the detail, officers were called to Western and Malone for a possible armed robbery. Police say one person near the scene was released from custody, Sapien Moore, 20, allegedly had a loaded handgun on him and is now jailed on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, and Possession of a Weapon Without a Valid FOID card.
Also Wednesday night, Police pulled a vehicle over at Prospect Road and Frye. Jermaine Allison, 29, fled the scene but was later arrested, as police say they discovered two loaded handguns in the car.
Ramonta May, 33, and Angel Jones, 23, were also arrested. May was wanted on a Peoria County Warrant, and Jones was arrested on a charge of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Allison faces charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card, and Resisting Arrest.
Allison is jailed, Jones was given a Notice to Appear in Court. and May posted bond and was released.
