SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The state says two schools in the Dunlap School District are among the best in the nation.
The Illinois State Board of Education says Hickory Grove and Ridgeview Elementary Schools are two of the seventeen schools in the state recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022.
The ISBE says the recognition is based on the school’s academic performance, or progress made in closing achievement gaps.
“We are extremely proud of our 2022 National Blue Ribbon School award recipients,” said Dr. Carmen Ayala, State Superintendent of Education, in a news release. “This prestigious award affirms and validates the hard work of our students, educators, families, and communities. Illinois’ Blue Ribbon Schools will serve as nationwide models for effective educational practices, and I want to wish heartfelt congratulations to all those whose passion and drive have warranted this well-deserved recognition.”
The two Dunlap School District schools are the only two outside of the Chicago area to receive the national honor this year.
