PEORIA, Ill. – Bond has been set at $1 million in the case of a Peoria man accused of causing a child to die on Tuesday.
Court records indicate Shamari Williams, 25, faces two counts of First Degree Murder for the death of Emori Green, 2. One of the two murder counts is specifically for the death of a child. Williams made a court appearance Thursday.
Green was found unresponsive Tuesday in a home in the city’s North Valley neighborhood. She was pronounced dead later.
Prosecutors claim Williams used his hands and a belt to kill Green. The Peoria County Coroner said multiple blunt force trauma injuries caused the death, based on an autopsy.
Williams is next scheduled to be in court March 3.
