PEORIA, Ill. – He’s not calling it a career; but after 33 years at the Peoria Journal Star, columnist and reporter Phil Luciano has left the building for the last time.
Luciano — a former host at WMBD — tells our news partner 25 News he figured one thing out about his job at the newspaper.
“People want to read about people,” said Luciano. “When I started to learn that, and thankfully I learned that pretty quickly, things changed a lot with my column.”
Luciano will be going to Peoria Public Television station WTVP, where he says he will continue to tell stories, both on TV and online.
The Journal Star Saturday published online Luciano’s top 33 columns over the last 33 years.
“It wasn’t so much trying to say something really funny or really important. It was, ‘What do people have to say?’” said Luciano.
