PEORIA, Ill. – The annual Easterseals Tribute Dinner will honor a local businessman and developer who certainly has done a lot of both in recent years.
This year’s dinner is Friday night, and CEO Steve Thompson says a building Kim Blickenstaff has had a lot to do with is the place.
“It will be at the new Scottish Rite Theatre, a premier performance venue that Kim has completely rehabbed and revitalized,” said Thompson. “We’re excited to christen that grand old building with this year’s tribute.”
Thompson tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” after last year’s couldn’t be held in person due to COVID-19, he’s glad he can have the 31st annual event in-person again.
Tickets are already sold out for the event, with live entertainment featuring the Peoria Symphony Orchestra with the Beach Boys.
Even in the face of the pandemic, the Central Illinois Easterseals chapter continues to do what could be live-saving work.
CEO Steve Thompson tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” more of that work, and facility improvements, can be done with your contributions.
“We are right in the middle of our Centennial capital campaign,” said Thompson. “So, we’re phasing that in the Peoria facility with upgraded facilities, expanded therapy spaces, new rooms for the provision of applied behavioral analysis for kids with autism.”
Thompson says Central Illinois EasterSeals is also in the midst of expanding — and will occupy part of the new Bloomington-Normal YMCA in the coming months.
