BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A number of Central Illinois fire departments are receiving shares of Illinois American Water’s 2021 Firefighter Grant Program, totaling $92,000.
Local departments sharing the grant money include:
City of Pekin Fire Department
North Pekin Fire Department
Farmington Fire Department
Chillicothe Fire Department
Limestone Township Fire Protection District
Timber-Hollis Fire Protection District
Logan Trivoli Fire Protection District
Peoria Fire Department
Dunlap Fire Protection District
Washington Fire Department
West Peoria Fire Protection District
Illinois American Water’s grants provide funding for personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training materials and classroom programs.
“We know the importance and value water has in protecting homes and businesses. We also understand the need to support our local heroes,” said Illinois American Water President Justin Ladner.
Ladner added, “This program allows us to continue to provide support to the local departments.”
The firefighter grants are being announced in recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 3-9.
Since 2010, over 770 grants totaling over $760,000 have been awarded to Illinois fire and emergency organizations in Illinois American Water’s service area.
