PEORIA, Ill. – A local after school program is coming to an end at the end of the month.
Officials with FamilyCore say they will close its after school and summer programs effective September 30.
The agency’s CEO, Ann Landing-Ferguson, says the decision wasn’t easy. “It is difficult to close our After School/Summer program,” said Ann Lading-Ferguson, FamilyCore CEO. “But all are in agreement that is it is the right decision for FamilyCore, our clients and the community. With other entities providing the same assistance, this duplication of services, along with staffing issues, contributed to the decision.”
While FamilyCore has been in existence for more than 120 years, the after school and summer programs have been in place for the last 23 years. Seventy youth a year were served by the program.
