TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. — A Washington man pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder in the death of a Morton man in 2019.
News partner 25 News reports that the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s office did not enter into a plea deal with Daniel Allbritton, 53, but will recommend up to 38 years in prison.
The victim, John Tyler, was initially reported missing in early December 2019, but a jogger found his body weeks later near Schmidgall Road in rural Tazewell County.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley said Tyler died from blunt force trauma.
An investigator’s report showed blood samples taken from Allbritton’s car contained Tyler’s DNA.
Allbritton’s sentencing is scheduled for September 16.
