PEORIA, Ill. — The COVID-19 testing site at the Peoria Civic Center will be closing permanently on Wednesday, June 23, after more than a year of serving the community.
The testing site was first set up in the spring of 2020 under guidance from the Trump administration, and later was funded by the State of Illinois.
“Testing collection sites for COVID-19 are still available at a variety of locations throughout the community – hospitals, physician offices, Heartland Health Services, and many pharmacies,” said Monica Hendrickson, administrator for the Peoria City/County Health Department. “Closure of the Civic Center COVID-19 testing collection site is one more indication that that our community is responding to the pandemic.”
According to the PCCHD’s website, Heartland Health Services will continue to offer COVID-19 testing at its clinic at 2321 N. Wisconsin Ave. in Peoria.
