PEORIA,Ill. — Illinois State Rep. Ryan Spain, of Peoria, was recently appointed to two leadership positions in the General Assembly.
Spain now serves as the Assistant Republican Leader in the Illinois House and Chairman of the House Republican Organization.
“That’s the only other elected position where our caucus actually votes to elect someone that’s going to be responsible for our efforts in the next election cycle,” Spain said.
Spain told WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” that his party must now articulate a platform for a different way forward for Illinois, where jobs can grow and people want to stay instead of moving away.
Spain said the state’s Republican leaders will work to restore Illinois’ reputation as a great place for new businesses and more jobs.
“Instead of being this outlier for really wacky ideas, corruption and a bad legacy. We can turn that around,” Spain said.
Spain is optimistic about working with the House’s new leadership, Democrat Speaker Chris Welch, in creating a brighter future for Illinois.
Spain hopes Welch will be open to new ideas from both sides of the aisle.
