PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. — As tier one mitigation of the Restore Illinois plan comes to Region 2, Peoria Heights will comply with restrictions.
Village Administrator Dustin Sutton told WMBD News, since the beginning of the pandemic, Heights businesses have done a good job of following Gov. Pritzker’s executive orders.
“As we approach another round of restrictions, we will help our businesses any way we can. Whether that be in the form of grants or leaving street dining boxes out longer as weather permits, to help with outdoor dining,” Sutton said.
In preparation for the winter, many Heights’ restaurants on Prospect have invested in outdoor heaters.
Sutton hopes patrons will continue frequenting the outdoor dining boxes as new restrictions begin Wednesday.
“Our community and surrounding communities have always been very supportive of our outdoor dining. So, I don’t think this week will be any different,” Sutton said.
Enforcement of restrictions will to be complaint-driven in the Heights, Sutton said. He hopes they won’t last long into the winter months, so that indoor dining can resume.
