PEKIN, Ill. – You might say some people who allegedly vandalized a public facility ruined the ability of everybody to use it.
Pekin Community High School Superintendent Danielle Owens says Dragon Stadium will no longer be available for use by the public – only by students and those with permission.
Owens says the district has increasingly had to call the police over the discovery of vandalism along with what she called “abuse” of the area.
So she says in the interest of safety and security, it’s now closed.
Owens does say the facility celebrates an anniversary this weekend, in conjunction with the Pekin Marigold Festival.
Authorities have not said if anyone has been arrested in connection with any damage.
