PEORIA, Ill. – While San Diego Comic Con takes place this weekend, a smaller version will take place in central Illinois.
Quad Con’s Peoria Comic and Toy Show will take place at the Peoria Civic Center Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, and 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday.
John Wells is the organizer of Quad Con, and he tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan” the event gives people an opportunity to come together and celebrate the fandoms they love.
“You can come in and you’re not going to be judged for wearing a cape on Saturday or Sunday. And a lot of people actually do really want to be a part of that, and they don’t know where to exhibit that behavior,” Wells said.
The featured guest at this year’s Quad Con is Daniel Logan, the actor behind Boba Fett of Star Wars. Other guests include voice actor Mark Dodson and Brad Jones of The Cinema Snob.
The event also features a cosplay contest, a Smash Bros. tournament, and around 200 vendors and artists selling their goods and crafts.
Tickets for the event are $15 for both days, and $10 for Sunday. Parking at the Civic Center is free.
