PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police says a teenager was injured in a shooting near Hightower Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Wednesday night.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 8:30 p.m., finding an empty vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.
A few minutes later, PPD learned that a 17-year-old male had been taken to a hospital by private vehicle, having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says the victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
PPD is investigating, and has no suspects.
