PEKIN, Ill. — The City of Pekin is willing to sell some it’s property at a very cheap price – with the expectation a developer will build a sports complex.
Monday night, Pekin City Council agreed to sell 70 acres of un-developed land for $100.
The land is located between Brenkman Drive and Route 98. Mayor Mark Luft says the land has been owned by the city for decades and has never been utilized.
Luft says it’s a great incentive for businesses to come to Pekin.
“It will all come together down the road, these things take time, but I think we have a good future with this and probably one of the biggest projects Pekin has taken on,” said Luft.
Luft tells 25 News there could be a contract to be voted on by the next council meeting in January.
