PEORIA, Ill. – An annual industry show that’s been in Peoria almost as long as the venue it’s in, is underway for another year.
The Greater Peoria Farm Show is running through Thursday in the Peoria Civic Centers.
Of the shows it produces, Midwest Shows’ manager Ron Bormaster says Peoria’s is the biggest for good reason.
“The equipment gate is getting bigger, and people need more space, and you get more vendors,” said Bormaster. “you try and produce a show that has a good variety of every type of vendor that you can get for farming.”
Everything from seeds to solar power, and trucks to tractors are on display at the show, along with pesticide license testing, and a presentation from an analyst on projections for crops next year.
Some farmers might be a little concerned about supply chain issues keeping them from some of the farm implements they’ve ordered for the next year. But all in all, Bormaster says farmers will keep being just fine.
“A lot of farmers have ordered equipment, and they’re still waiting for it. So, maybe that’s a good sign, which it is,” said Bormaster. “That makes the manufacturers feel better about what they’re doing. That makes the farmer feel good that he’s been able to purchase something. He might not get it for a couple months, but everybody is having that same problem with the manufacturing business.”
But, Bormaster says farmers are just pretty much getting over having to wait, and that they’re happy they’re still able to get what they need to produce.
Farmers will have the chance to win a new tractor by attending, free parking, and a presentation on how experts see the 2023 farm season, which looks pretty good.
Admission is free.
