EUREKA, Ill. – A Peoria man was one of two people arrested after a vehicle they were in allegedly led Eureka Police and Woodford County sheriffs deputies on a chase overnight.
It happened just before midnight Sunday night, when deputies say they continued a chase that had started when the suspect fled east out of Eureka on a number of county roads.
Deputies and El Paso police used spike stripe to no avail, and the vehicle wasn’t able to be stopped until it turned into a business parking lot, made a U-turn, and hit a squad car head on.
Desirea Herrera of Lake Villa , 20, is facing a host of charges including Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
The passenger — Xzavier Thomas of Peoria, 21 — is jailed on a Peoria County warrant and misdemeanor Resisting a Peace Officer.
A Woodford County deputy, officials say, was treated and released from a local hospital.
