EAST PEORIA, Ill. – There’s a new man in charge of the East Peoria Festival of Lights.
The City of East Peoria says Kory Brown, in addition to being the city’s Director of Tourism and Special Events, is now the chairperson of the Festival as part of his job.
Brown replaces Doug McCarty, who left to join the private sector.
Brown has been with the city since 2017, and has assisted in the Festival of Lights Parade, and the Winter Wonderland drive-through display.
“I’m excited to take on this challenge and looking forward to the festival’s 38th year,” Brown said, in a news release. “Throughout Doug’s time, so many upgrades have been made to the Festival of Lights and he has left us in a great spot to make the festival successful for years to come.”
This will be the 38th year of the Festival of Lights, which starts with the parade November 19th, continuing with the drive-through display starting November 24th.
