CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials for White’s office say the positive test happened Wednesday, despite White being double vaccinated and receiving two boosters.
White — who is experiencing mild symptoms — is expected to be doing work from home and will be in quarantine.
He’s 88 years old, and has been Secretary of State since 1999.
White isn’t running for another tern in the November election. Former state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, and Bloomington State Representative Dan Brady are.
Sending my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to Jesse White, our beloved Secretary of State and my dear friend.

Yesterday, I tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. During my quarantine, I will be working from home. I feel good and have been experiencing mild symptoms. I appreciate all the well-wishes and encourage everyone to get fully vaccinated and double boosted– just as I have done.
