PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria City Council is not yet done discussing violence prevention funding.
The council Tuesday night voted to hold a special policy discussion next Tuesday night, in light of the council rejecting funding a violence prevention study from the “Cure Violence” initiative, extended presentations on the matter, and after several community groups called them out for it.
“I think we’ll go through all the steps for people’s satisfaction, not only on the council, but the public,” said John Kelly, At-Large Council Member.
Kelly says he and City Manager Patrick Urich have some discussions about the matter already.
Council members had no other discussion about the move, and members Zach Oyler and Sid Ruckriegel voted by phone.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. July 19.
