CREVE COEUR, Ill. – We’re learning more about an accident Wednesday morning about an accident in Creve Coeur involving an Illinois State Police squad car.
State troopers are now telling 25 News the accident at Freedom Gas in Creve Coeur just before 7:00 a.m. happened as a trooper was responding to a call, lights and sirens activated.
While a number of commenters on WMBD’s Facebook page claim the road was dry at the time, troopers now say the squad car hit a puddle of water — not a completely wet road as was first reported — hydroplaned, and struck a sign post.
The trooper was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital and released. It’s not clear if any sanctions or tickets are being issued.

CREVE COEUR, Ill. — An Illinois State Police vehicle crashed at a Creve Coeur gas station early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 5:45 a.m. at the Freedom gas station.
ISP said the trooper was responding to a disturbance call, and due to wet road conditions, their vehicle went off the road, crashing into the Freedom Gas sign.
The trooper was transported to OSF Saint Francis with what were described as minor injuries.
