PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man charged with committing the city’s ninth homicide this year has now had his charges solidified by a grand jury.
Peoria County Court records indicate a grand jury has indicted Stephen Coaxum, 34, on counts of First Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Coaxum was just arrested two weeks ago for the May 21st shooting death of Roger Browder, 21. The shooting near Bigelow and Pennsylvania in the West Bluff was also not far from Peoria High School, where a graduation ceremony was going on at the time.
Weapons allegedly were found in Coaxum’s home.
Coaxum will be back in court Thursday. He has remained in the Peoria County Jail since his arrest.
