WEST PEORIA, Ill. – As the Peoria County Board Thursday night closed one chapter by selling the former Heddington Oaks, it also settled another related to the facility.
25 News reports the Peoria County Board approved a $450,000 settlement with the family of a former resident there.
Elizabeth Capshaw’s family claims carelessness and negligence led to her death, having suffered brain damage and was on blood thinners at the time.
Capshaw lived there only about a month around late-2015.
The family will receive $200,000 of that settlement, after legal fees.
