PEORIA, Ill. — One person was injured in an industrial accident at a Peoria steel mill on Monday.
Jessica Reyling, employment manager at LIBERTY Steel & Wire on SW Adams, told 25 News, that “a colleague” was taken to the emergency unit at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Local Independent Steelworkers Alliance President Penny White said LIBERTY Steel and the alliance are working closely with medical staff to ensure their colleague receives the best possible care.
“But, out of respect to our member and the family, we’re not going to comment on the injury right now,” White said.
White added, a safety response team will be looking into what caused the accident at LIBERTY Steel.
