PEORIA, Ill. – We’re learning more about why two gas stations in Peoria that are under one chain are closing.
We’ve noticed two Circle K locations along North Knoxville in Peoria shut down this week, with price signs turned off and signage removed or painted over.
Another one off War Memorial remains open.
A company spokesman tells WMBD it’s part of a plan by the Canadian-based retailer to sell 269 locations in 25 United States, and 37 more in Canada. The two on Knoxville closing are the only two Circle K closed in the city.
The move was contemplated by the company as early as March of this year as part of a so-called “strategic review.”
In a separate deal, the parent company — Alimentation Couche-Tard — sold 49 sites in Oklahoma to Casey’s General Stores, Inc., for $39 million.
