EAST PEORIA, Ill. – What might be a bit of an inconvenience for residents of East Peoria over the next month or so is also something that also creates a lot of tourism and plenty of comfort and joy…and it starts Saturday night.
The East Peoria Festival of Lights will officially open on Thanksgiving, but starts Saturday with the Parade of Lights stepping off at 5:45 P.M.
And when the festival’s Public Relations Coordinator, Jill Peterson, says there are a lot of lights, she means it.
“When people come to the Festival of Lights, we are guaranteed to give them a million sparkles of excitement,” said Peterson, to news partner 25 News. “Some of these floats have anywhere from just a couple thousand lights on them to up to 30,000 lights. So, when you add them all together it truly is a million lights — a million sparkles of light!”
The Festival of Lights will be open until January second, once it starts Thursday.
