Peoria, Ill — Loyola-Chicago has announced it is leaving the Missouri Valley Conference next year.
Reports across social media confirm the program will move over to the Atlantic-10 conference, starting in the 2022-2023 season.
Loyola-Chicago has spent the last 8 seasons playing in the MVC.
According to reporting in “The Athletic”, the move came together quickly with the A-10 agreeing to bring the Ramblers into the conference with unanimous approval.
All sports, except women’s golf and men’s volleyball, which the Atlantic 10 doesn’t sponsor — will make the transition.
Loyola-Chicago basketball saw recent success in a 2018 Final Four “Cinderella” style run through the NCAA Men’s College Basketball tournament.
At the time, that was the Rambler’s first trip to the tournament in 33 years.
Loyola-Chicago will join other Atlantic-10 programs, including George Mason, Rhode Island, Saint Louis, Saint Joseph’s, Davidson, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne, Fordham, La Salle, Richmond, UMass, VCU and George Washington.
The Missouri Valley previously announced it would add Belmont to the conference in 2022.
