HOUSTON — Longtime ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill has died at 72.
Hill passed away at his home in Houston, TX, according to band mates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard.
It’s unclear if Hill’s death is connected to a “hip issue” that forced him to return to Texas five days ago.
Hill is one of the founding members of the legendary band and has served as lead bass player and secondary lead vocalist since 1969, when the band launched.
He’s also one half of the legendary bearded duo, the other one being Gibbons.
