PEORIA, Ill. — The results of the Peoria Mayoral Election still stand after a discovery recount was completed Monday by the Peoria County Election Commission.
The recount was requested by Mayor Rita Ali’s opponent, Jim Montelongo.
Official results confirmed Ali won with 8,240 votes compared to Montelongo’s 8,197.
Representatives from both campaigns, along with commission staff, inspected vote-by-mail applications, ballots and envelopes.
The process started Monday morning and ended around 4:30 p.m.
Ali was sworn in as Peoria Mayor on May 4.
