PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighters were called just before 2 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of Evans for a working fire.
Fire Battalion Chief Ralph Phillips said upon arrival, crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from two sides of the structure.
The building was a six stall garage that was being converted into two apartment units.
A search found no one inside the building. No firefighter injuries were reported.
The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
