SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — We aren’t out of the woods yet, but Gov. J-B Pritkzer confirms his office is discussing what returning to normal would look like for Illinois.
Pritzker said the “when” will depend on the rate of coronavirus infection and recovery, but the “how will be a little trickier.”
The governor has been consulting with Illinois’ business and industry leaders about what “normal” will look like for them as well.
“How do you get your manufacturing process to a point where people can be socially distant from one another, when maybe they weren’t doing that before. I think that’s going to be industry by industry,” Pritzker said.
Pritzker said Illinois needs to be very careful as it gets back to some kind of normalcy, so as not to cause a resurgence of cases.
Pritzker said it will be a complex process to resume activities while also making sure coronavirus cases don’t spike again.
“So, the question is, how do you operate society when we’ve begun to bring down the level of infection, and make sure people are able to go back to work?”
Illinois’ current stay-at-home order runs through April 30.
