(25 News)-Judge Jodi Hoos was selected by the Peoria County Board to be the next State’s Attorney. She was sworn in during a small ceremony on Sunday afternoon. She takes over for the late Jerry Brady who passed away after battling a long illness in June.
Hoos has experience working in the State’s Attorneys office before she became a Judge. Brady held the office since 2011.
Hoos said Sunday, “I’m also looking forward to getting into the community more and working with the community to make it a better place for everyone.” She worked with Brady and current Judge and former State’s Attorney Kevin Lyons previously. Lyons was also on hand for the ceremony.
As for the future of Peoria County under Hoos, Lyons said, “You take it as it comes. You don’t get to predict the future, but you have to address it fairly so good luck to her.”
Hoos will finish Brady’s term which runs through 2020. Then she must run for election. Chris McCall, who was a finalist to be named successor to Brady, has already announced his intention to run against Hoos in the 2020 election.
